Frequently Asked Questions About Brake Repair in Cincinnati
How long will my brake repair take?
Great question! Our typical brake system repair takes around 1 to 2 hours. This can vary depending on the extent of the repair and parts availability.
Does someone need to be home for my brake service?
It’s generally best for you to be present for your repair so that we can communicate with you on repairs needed. With that being said it is possible for us to make a repair and then take payment without you being present. Just ask for me details if this is a question you have.
What forms of payment do you acccept?
We accept all major forms of payment cash, credit, debit, google pay, apple pay… and more
Why are my brakes squeaking?
There could be several reasons your brakes are squeaking here are the most common-
- The brake pad wear sensor contacts the brake rotor indicating the brake pads need to be replaced
- Brake rotors are grooved causing brake dust to be trapped in the grooves
- Brake caliper pins seized not allowing proper movement of the caliper
- See Brake Pad Replacement for more information
How do I know when my brakes need changed?
The most common signs that your brakes are ready to be changed are –
- Squeaking
- Vibrating/Pulsating
- Grinding
If you haven’t had your brakes inspected for a while it may be time to have them looked at. All of our technicians are ASE certified
Is it safe to drive with grinding brakes?
It’s never a good idea to drive with grinding brakes, in fact, driving on bad brakes is the number one thing that can raise the price of your repair.
The main cause of a grinding noise while pressing your brake pedal is brake pads being worn down completely causing the backing plate of the pad to contact the rotor. Once this happens you will need to replace your brake pads and rotors.
If you’re experiencing any grinding in your brakes then we recommend to not drive the vehicle and give us a call. Remember we come to you!
Why are my brakes vibrating?
If your brake pedal is vibrating while stopping this could be why –
Over time the heat can take a toll on your vehicle’s braking system. 9 times out of 10 when you are feeling a vibration while braking it is caused by warped rotors. This is very common as the heat causes the metal rotors to become slightly misshapen over time. Replacing them is the best course of action
How much does it cost to replace brakes?
This is often the first question we are asked when a customer calls. We have brake repair packages starting at $119. The number one thing that can raise the cost of your brake repair is waiting too long! It’s always best to call the brake repair experts at 2’u’Brakes as soon as you start to notice any problems with your vehicles braking system.
How do I know if my brake caliper is bad?
Brake calipers go bad over time just like many other parts of your braking system here are some warning signs –
- Pulsating in brake pedal while stopping
- Pulling to one side while braking
- Noticing excessive heat or smoke coming from your wheel
Changing your brake fluid regularly is also crucial to extending the life of your brake calipers. The bottom line is if you suspect you have a bad brake caliper it’s best to have one of our ASE-certified technicians come to you for your brake repair in Cincinnati.
